In California, it is illegal for a dental laboratory to provide services directly to the public.  There are, however, a small number of laboratory technicians who attempt to construct dentures on their own.  This illegal activity is known as “bushwhacking.”

Whether it is a denture repair or complete construction of a denture, it is a service that is done outside of the law and therefore any recourse against substandard practice is impossible.
